JACOBS & CO. STEAKHOUSE

Nothing says “my tastebuds have made it” quite like dining at Jacobs & co. Steakhouse. As I valet the car, I allowed myself to hover up the beautiful staircase to the main entrance I couldn’t happen but notice the butterflies in my stomach fluttering at a tremendous rate.. this was much reminiscent of the time I had my virginity stolen from me in cuba at the tender age of 14 by an 18 year old british schoolgirl nymph.. instead of stopping and taking that much needed minute to clear the butterflies by vomiting and shitting my diapes I decided to soldier on and opened the giant main doors to the gates of steak heaven.

Upon checking into heaven, the friendly & sexy reception staff greeted us with open arms (and legs) as they checked our coats and waited for the maitre de to take us up to our table. The upbeat and courteous maitre de then greeted us and escorted us through his labyrinth of meat pleasures to our table (like lambs to the slaughter). On the way, piano was being played ever so eloquently and fireplaces lined the room further seducing our pleasure senses.

The atmosphere at Jacobs is as beautiful as my…... is. From the piano bar downstairs to the main dining room everything screams ultra high luxury. From the chic stone dividers to the gorgeous wood tables and seats. There is even a dry meat glass museum display area to feast your eyes upon.

The service at Jacobs is truly 5 star all around. Knowledgeable, cheerful, attentive staff makes sure that you are offered nothing less than service perfection. Let’s put it this way if the service in general was a 19 year old in some sort of committed relationship, I’d sleep with her in a heartbeat. Our waiter gave us a steak lesson 101 that lasted about 5 mins teaching us things I’m sure even the top steak aficionados would not be aware of, one being that they allow their steaks to cool down for 10 mins before bringing it out, as if the meat is brought right out of the oven it’s muscles tend to be more tense and tough, the 10 mins allows enough time for the meat to relax and for all the flavors to fully escape.

The food itself is out of this world. I ordered the Australian wagyu cut. Every steak is prepared and served on a skillet which lets the meat sizzle while still in front of you. The steak is tender, succulent, slightly charcoaled on the outside while ever so tender on the inside. The meats fat has soaked in all the spices and flavors and explodes in your taste buds upon contact of every single bite. With every bite is a constant reminder of why Jacobs is Toronto’s best steakhouse…Toronto’s steak heaven. Prior to the steak we had the Caesar which is prepared tableside from scratch. It is highly raved about and also Toronto’s best. To accompany our steaks we ordered the duck fat fries, potato puree and potato gratin all perfect tasty additions to our meat festival extravaganza. To finish us off we ordered the chocolate cake & vanilla crème brule for dessert. The cheque even comes with delicious take home muffins that the waiter instructs us are to be used for breakfast, similar to their reception staff.

There are few steakhouses in Toronto that offer a dining experience at this caliber consistently over time, Jacobs & Co. is one of them and from the bottom of each of our stomachs we thank you! Sex or Jacobs? We’ll choose the latter. 3 FORK POINTS UP
